Camera Roll Cleaner Privacy Policy
The short version
The Camera Roll Cleaner app collects no data. Your photos and videos are looked at on your iPhone and never leave it. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The only time anything reaches us is if you choose to write to us through the contact form on the support page (see "Contact form" below).
Your photos and videos
With your permission, the app reads your photo library through Apple's Photos framework so it can show your photos and videos sorted by file size. All of this happens on your iPhone. The app does not upload, copy or send your photos, videos or any information about them anywhere.
When you delete items from the app's bin, iOS asks you to confirm, then moves them to Recently Deleted in the Photos app. The app cannot empty Recently Deleted; only you can.
What is stored on your iPhone
To work, the app keeps a few small things on your device only:
- A size cache (
sizes.v2.json): the file size of each photo and video, keyed by Apple's identifier for the item, so the next launch does not have to measure everything again. It is kept in the app's cache folder and is not included in backups. - Your kept list and your bin list: the identifiers of the items you swiped right on (kept) and left on (bin), so your choices survive closing the app. They are in a file (
lists.v1.json) in the app's own storage. - A few settings: your sort order (size, month or date), whether you saw the intro, a cached Pro flag so a paying user never sees the paywall while the App Store answers, and, after you start a free trial, its end date until you answer the reminder offer. These are in the app's settings.
- One number in the Keychain: the total size of what you deleted with the app, which it shows after a delete. Because it is stored in the iOS Keychain, it stays on your iPhone even if you delete and reinstall the app. It is marked "this device only", so it is not moved to another iPhone. (Earlier versions also kept a count of deletes there; the app no longer reads it.)
The lists file and the settings are included in your own iPhone backup like other app data; the size cache is not. Nothing is sent to us. Deleting the app removes everything except the Keychain entries.
Purchases
Swiping, the bin and sorting are free. Deleting needs Roll Cleaner Pro, available as a yearly subscription with a free trial, a monthly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Purchases, trials, renewals and refunds are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. The app never sees your payment details. It only asks Apple whether this Apple ID has an active Pro purchase.
Network
The app makes no network requests of its own. The only connections are those made by Apple's own frameworks, for example the App Store when loading prices or processing a purchase, and iCloud Photos when you open an item in the bin whose original is stored in iCloud. The swipe cards never download from iCloud.
Trial reminder
If you start the free trial, the app offers a reminder. If you tap Remind me, iOS asks whether the app may send you notifications. If you allow it, the app schedules one local reminder on your iPhone for 2 days before the trial ends. It is created and shown by your iPhone; nothing is sent to us. If you say no, nothing is scheduled.
Contact form
The support page has a contact form. If you choose to use it, the email address and message you type are sent through Formspree, the service that delivers the form to us. We use them only to answer you. The app itself never sends anything to the form or to us. To have a message deleted, ask through the same form.
Children
The app does not collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
